Youth Empower Integration

Empowering Youth Workers for Enhanced Migrant Integration

In September 2023, a groundbreaking project titled “Youth Empower Integration” unfolded in Slovenia, marking a significant stride in addressing the integration policies across Europe. This initiative saw the convergence of 31 participants from an impressive array of countries including Slovenia, Malta, Poland, Turkey, Estonia, Sweden, Greece, Italy, and France. The project, set against the picturesque backdrops of Zreče and Ljubljana from September 25 to October 2, 2023, aimed at fortifying the integration policies within the partner countries.

The Essence of the Project

The “Mobility of Youth Workers” project was ingeniously designed to enrich youth workers with invaluable experience and knowledge crucial for understanding and catering to the needs of young migrants. This endeavor not only aimed at facilitating better integration of migrants into partner organizations but also served as a vibrant platform for learning how to navigate through the diversity of cultures and fostering bonds between them. Moreover, it provided youth workers an unparalleled opportunity to acquire hands-on experience in dealing with young migrants, an asset that could be instrumental in their professional journey.

Activities and Participants

The core of the project revolved around a series of workshops aimed at achieving specific learning objectives. These workshops, embodying the essence of informal learning, offered a dynamic and engaging avenue for knowledge transfer and opinion exchange through role-plays, simulations, interactive presentations, and guided debates. The target group for this project was primarily youth workers engaged with refugees, encompassing career youth workers and volunteers, all of whom were part of a mentoring program aimed at better integration.

Expected Results and Impact

The project was poised to yield substantial benefits for both youth workers and youth organizations. Participants were expected to gain practical experience in working with refugees and acquaint themselves with diverse approaches to social inclusion and intercultural communication. The anticipated outcome was a documented compilation of best practices in migrant integration, derived from the practical experiences of all partner organizations. This document was to be made accessible on the project’s website, serving as a valuable resource for the public and a testament to the project’s success.
