Registered in 2020, Formation et Sensibilisation de Luxembourg (FSL) evolved from the informal group “Foreign Students of Luxembourg” (FSL), which was established in 2013. The organization is dedicated to fostering social awareness about the importance of education, with a strong focus on capacity-building and skill development.
The organization aims to establish, promote, and support education as a means of personal development and empowerment. It achieves this through various activities, including international education programs, youth and cultural exchanges that emphasize human rights education, civic participation, intercultural dialogue, integration, and peace. Additionally, FSL promotes science and research while fostering dialogue between art and science to ensure the sustainable transmission of knowledge. The organization also plays a key role in strengthening European and international cooperation by collaborating with professional and public entities on relevant topics.
Beyond these activities, FSL is actively engaged in addressing migration issues. Through its programs and workshops, the organization contributes to the better integration of migrants into Luxembourgish society while raising public awareness about the significance of intercultural dialogue and human rights. By working with various organizations at the European and international levels, FSL seeks to implement long-term and effective solutions in the field of migration and social inclusion.
FSL has extensive experience in youth work and regularly engages in activities aimed at empowering young people and fostering their participation in society. The organization runs various local and international programs that support youth development, including the annual Human Rights Festival, launched in 2022 in collaboration with local organizations. It also organizes long-term educational programs for youth workers, providing them with the necessary skills to work with diverse groups.
The organization participates in international youth programs under the Youth in Action and ERASMUS+ initiatives, facilitating opportunities for young people to engage in cross-border learning and skill-building. FSL is involved in research and publications that address the needs of migrant and refugee women in entrepreneurship and creative industries. Another impactful project is the “Living Library Luxembourg,” an initiative designed to challenge stereotypes and prejudices by allowing participants to engage in one-on-one conversations with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Over two years, this initiative has featured more than 30 “living books” and has attracted over 250 readers.
FSL has also been involved in several large-scale projects, including “INFODEMCS,” which provides young people across Europe with tools to navigate digital information and misinformation. Another initiative, “#WeCoLead,” promotes gender equality and empowers young women to take leadership roles in their communities. Additionally, the “YOUCREATE” project supports green entrepreneurship, encouraging young people to develop sustainable business ideas that contribute to environmental protection.
One of the organization’s most impactful educational programs, “3D Education: Democracy, Diversity, and Dialogue,” offers long-term training for youth workers and educators engaged in global citizenship education. This program equips participants with the knowledge and tools to promote democratic values, diversity awareness, and dialogue-based conflict resolution.
